About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
I’m Amanda Courtney, a portrait photographer, artist, mother, and grandmother based in Jacksonville, North Carolina. For more than 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing families, children, seniors, and some wonderfully magical mermaids along the beautiful Crystal Coast.
I believe photographs should do more than document what your family looks like. They should capture how it feels to be together—the laughter, the connections, the personalities, and even a little of the chaos that makes your family uniquely yours.

A relaxed experience with beautiful results
You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about whether your children will cooperate perfectly. In fact, perfection isn’t the goal.
I’ll guide you throughout your session while leaving room for genuine moments to unfold. We’ll create the classic portraits everyone wants, along with the playful, candid images that often become the most meaningful.
My sessions are relaxed, colorful, and designed to feel manageable—even for family members who aren’t excited about having their pictures taken. Most sessions last no more than 45 minutes, giving us plenty of time to create variety without exhausting the children—or the adults!
From the coast to your walls
One of my favorite things about living in Eastern North Carolina is the incredible variety of places we can use for portraits. I photograph families throughout Jacksonville and along the nearby coast, including Topsail Island, North Topsail Beach, Onslow Beach, and Emerald Isle.
Many of the families I photograph are visiting the coast for vacation. I understand that coordinating a large group can feel overwhelming, especially when several households and generations are involved. I’ll help with location, timing, clothing guidance, group combinations, and all the little details that make the experience easier.
After your session, I’ll also help you turn your favorite photographs into finished artwork for your home. Whether you choose a statement portrait, a thoughtfully designed wall grouping, an heirloom album, or gifts for grandparents, your photographs will be created to be enjoyed—not forgotten on a hard drive.
An artist behind the camera
My background in fine art influences everything I create. I’m drawn to beautiful light, rich color, natural expressions, and images that feel both polished and full of life.
When I’m not photographing families, you can often find me painting, working on a creative project, spending time near the water, or enjoying life with my family. Being a mother and grandmother has given me an even deeper appreciation for how quickly families change. Children grow, new people join the family, and the seasons that feel ordinary today eventually become the memories we treasure most.
That is why I believe there is never a wrong time to photograph the people you love.
Let’s create something meaningful
Your family doesn’t need to be perfectly posed, perfectly coordinated, or in a perfect season of life. You simply need to show up, love one another, and trust me to take care of the rest.
I would be honored to create photographs that feel like your family—and artwork that keeps those memories close for years to come.
